new kittens && murdering my snake plant (almost) && harvesting spinach

hello friends! it is june 23rd and officially the second week of school. and no, I don’t want to hear about subordinate clauses ever again. I still confuse them with every other type of clause.

anyways. I took my camera out to snap a few shots of our flowers and wildflowers thought I would share them today along with some random other stuff. LOL

swingtime fushia

i KILLED MY GOLD EDGED SNAKE PLANT. He got thrips REALLY bad and curled up and went soft. I tried to divide him to save him and now we are just waiting…. in the meantime though my favorite local plant store restocked on the gold edged ones os i decided to splurge and buy a new one. I LOVE them so much. and i missed having my old one on my nightstand.

i went to the library for the first time in like 3 months and literally almost maxed out my card….its bad… πŸ™‚ speaking of books, i found “Before and After” by Lisa Wingate and Judy Christie at a thrift shop last week and i was so excited because it was fifty cents! i’m almost done it now and its so interesting. all about the Tennessee Children’s Home Society and Georgia Tann. I sipped iced coffee and read a good portion on the deck sunday afternoon.

we also went back to church on sunday! of course with our mandatory face masks which is getting REALLY annoying. i don’t have corona and i don’t care about getting it… so why !!! there is literally such a low risk here where i live… agh.

some little white flowers —- these are suuper tiny and grow wild around the calves pen.

purple flowers…

and exciting moment! i made a green smoothie out of garden spinach!!! it was exciting. like really exciting. and tasted great. why haven’t we grown spinach before?! πŸ™‚

and of course, the classic wild rose. we have several of these bushes on our land and they are so nice!

a blurry photo taken while i was feeding Trixie…

i almost forgot to mention that rilla had her kittens! we had her inside for about a week, and then my sisters cat Ari was here and we babysat someone scat for night so we had TWELVE CATS inside one night. it was HORRIBLE. So now Rilla is back outside with her kittens, Ari went home and the owners came and picked up the cat. So we are back to three. i’m not kidding, it was HORRIBLE. literally tripping over cats aha

taken from my mom’s Instagram… because i couldn’t get a very clear photo haha

and of course, dixie cooling off in a mud puddle.

dixie being skeptical of her choices…

anyways. that’s it for today because i am tired from using my brain too hard to read the alchemist ( lol ) and really need coffee.

ps. i made sourdough bagels again. favorite.

GOODNIGHT

planting our garden && a new bunny && I FINALLY FINISHED A PAINTING

hola friends! it is May the 25th and I literally have not done ANY blogging in May. its been much too warm outside to sit down on my computer long enough to write a blog post.

On the subject of the gorgeous weather, we were able to plant our garden awhile back! we planted tomatoes, potatoes, peas, carrots, radishes, cauliflower, broccoli, radishes, beets, onions, peppers, celery, zucchini, squash, pumpkins, rhubarb, kale, spinach, lettuce and corn… literally everything, ahah

and I have to admit —- my kale is the CUTEST thing in the garden. those frilly little leaves…

and this is the first year we have planted celery, broccoli, and cauliflower so we are in for an experience! if you have any tips for them, let me know! :-))

sunflowers about to be repotted

I also have SO MANY herbs for a small bed on our deck and I am so stoked to dry them and use them. ahhh. I also want to try and make some tea blends which I think would be neat πŸ˜‰

and i’m sure you all remember me talking about how excited to be done school I was ??? hahaaa the joy was short lived. I am SO BORED so I decided to take English in June/July to occupy my time and I am kinda REALLY excited to have something to do hahah

finished painting!

and!!! on Friday we got a bunny ! she is so cute and we wanted to name her Peter from Peter Rabbit but then we remembered she was a girl. so we named her BEATRIX πŸ™‚ so cute! she lovvvvvves watermelon and dandelions.

anyways. currently I am reading the blue castle for like the 4th time and I still love it so much. valancy is just SO GOOD

anyways 4 real, GOODNIGHT

new bottle calf && composting && finding my DREAM PLANT !!

hola friends !! it is a sunny tuesday morning and I decided to pull up WordPress and write a post today bc I feel like its been a long time since I did one of these posts but its actually only been like, two weeks. aha

first things first..

Amanda: “i’m probably going to get the corona bc i didn’t wash those two strawberries when mom told me too”

anywayssss LOL

on the very last day of April we found a super cute abandoned calf, who we named Trixie, and we took her home to bottle feed since she wasn’t doing well. now, she is doing super well and drinking a full bottle several times a day. so cute ;’)

dixie is also quite jealous bc a) we pay attention to trxie and not her for like 3 minutes b) their names rhyme ahah

also also also

we started composting! we have so many vegetable scraps and all we do is throw them out so we decided to “repurpose” them and give our garden some better soil by composting. we used plastic barrels, some pallets, and a plastic tube to build our composters and so far, they are working well. the first batch of compost is finally breaking down and now smells very earthy and is looking quite nice. if you’re looking to reduce your garbage and give your soil a boost, composting is a great way to start. The Spruce has so many helpful articles all about it.

new leaves on my ZZ tree !!!!

oh oh and last week I got my new paintbrushes in the mail and EEEEE they are the most beautiful things ever. I could not stop petting them ahh. i’m currently doing a peony/poppy canvas and its been pretty entertaining. i need to finish the first flower before i get bored of it and do something really drastic like paint the whole thing blue LOL

I have been reading a lotttt since I finished school which has been really nice. currently i’m reading rainbow valley by the one and only l m montgomery and ahh i love it so much. the last few Anne books about her children are some of my favorites

eeeeeeeeeeee ALSO ALSO

i broke out of the house yesterday and did a little bit of shopping and i found my dreaaaam plant. one of them at least.

a majesty palm !! i found mine at a hardware store for $20 and she looks so cute in my room.

i really need to stop buying plants, ahah

i think the only one I am going to buy, if i find one, is a pothos because i think it would be super cute on my bookshelf. but other than that i don’t think i will be buying any more houseplants bc my room is fuuuull haha

anyways,

what have YOU been up to this past week??

i dyed a shirt with avocado && lemon chicken && new painting !!!

aloha friends!! it is TUESDAYYYY, the third of march !!! I remember last year I felt like the months flew by but this year has been a slower which is super nice

okay okay first off random story of the day :

me: *sleeping*

mom: *comes in my room at crack of dawn aka 6:57 am *

also mom: “the water isn’t working so don’t flush the toilet or the basement will flood”

no other than mom: *tapes “don’t flush” sign on my toilet*

it seems like maybe she knows I have a really short memory span?? maybe??

so blurry but the skyyyyy one night:))

okay okay and then last week I went to goodwill and it was half price dayyyy

and I found this super cute handmade linen blouse for $1.25!! scoreeeeee

and then I ran it through the washer and dryer and then I made my avocados skins and pits I had dried in dye and dyed the shirt, let the dye set in, and then washed and dried it again

I love the moodiness of these photos ahh

and AAAhhHH I love how it turned out

okay okay

and then we have been trying new recipes lately and I REALLLYYYY wanted to try lemon chicken so I got the recipe from my aunt and ahhh I made lemon chicken and it was SOO GOOOODDD ahh new favoriteeee !!!!

I also haven’t painted in a veryyyyyy long time like 2 weeks bc I’ve been so tired and school is contributing to that tiredness

so I decided to start an bigger watercolor of a city on a hill in Greece and ahh its going to look perfecttttt in my room :PP I am so excited to start something new and freshhh

also my bathroom is turning into a mini art gallery LOL help

also. I woke up feeling sooooo sickkkkk yesterday and slept for like 3 hours and then by mid afternoon I felt total fine. it was SO WEIRD

anywayyyys stay in school and don’t go vegan LOL

overcooked fudge & diseased livestock & other boring stuff || day three of blog-mas

aloha againnn. today is kind of another suuuper random posts ( because obviously those are my favorite ) and today is more of a rambly post.. talking about how I overcooked [ or maybe over mixed???] fudge, treated cattle, and literally did no school [ && and also painted a seed on my painting…]

Our cattle seem to have come down with more pneumonia [ I tried to spell that four times before giving up and googling it] and so yesterday morning I helped run cows through to get treated and it was very nice to have a break from school.

me: *comes inside* “okay, its probably 10:30ish. that didn’t that long.”

also me: *looks at clock* 12:37

and all that extra time I thought I had to do random stuff was gonnnne.

And then we went to Cabela’s last weekend and ahh all the fuuudge

so yesterday I looked high and low for a traditional fudge recipe [that you cook on the stove and then dump it in the mixer and put into a pan, the real stuff]

So, I put it in the mixer to beat and I was cleaning up all the mess and than I looked back at the fudge and it had like SOLIDFIED sooo quickly and it basically turned into sand, arghh

And then, last week we also watched an episode of road to Avonlea we hadn’t watched like ever && and so we rewatched that annndd

mom: didn’t you just watch that episode

And last but not least I painted like a seed on my papaya watercolor. [ which should be on here on a few days ] and i have been painting this in my closet… mainly because I moved my desk into the closet for awhile and I never paint at my desk buttttt I decided to paint at my desk. very randomly.

And there is some thrillingly boring updates of recent happenings. and I will hopefully have my November in review post up soonish. hopefuuuully.

ANYWAYSSS. That wraps up the third day of blog-mas and it actually hasn’t been hard at all to get these posts up. ;D

BLOG-MAS || 25 DAYS OF BLOGGING

Aloha everyone!! Christmas is coming up and even though I am saying hard no to Christmas ANYTHING until December 1st, I decided to do something a little different this year…

BLOGMAS.

If you been following this blog for awhile, you know I do not like to post short, unedited, little posts somewhat like an Instagram post. I find that REALLY annoying when people use their blog like Instagram. And so that’s why I don’t post a lot on here, is because I don’t have a lot of time for long posts and my blog has really taken a backseat and I haven’t posted consistently.

SO, to get back into schedule, I am going to be blogging, every. single. day. until Christmas. I have some super fun ideas and I think it will be a super fun challenge that will get me back into blogging more regularly.

And sooo, if you have any ideas, comment below and if you don’t want to miss any of the daily posts, be sure to subscribe!

Join me for DAY ONE on December first ft. MY MINIMAL BEDROOM CHRISTMAS DECOR

Also, be sure to check out my INSTAGRAM for more frequent updates.

PAINT WITH ME || WHALE WATERCOLORS

Recently i have REEEEALLLYYY gotten into watercolors. I tried watercolor pencils for awhile but they have NO comparison to real watercolors and paintbrushes ahh.

For these paintings I used:

-Mont Marte Watercolor Tubes

I looove these watercolors so much! They are so smooth, good quality and super affordable.

-Mont Marte Watercolor Paper

I really like this paper but it isn’t as good as some I’ve used. I find it ends up peeling after a couple coats of watercolor.

Masterstroke Strippler & Round #4 Brushes

I found these for a couple dollars and i really like them! They are really cheap so i’m going to be on the lookout for some new ones sometime. If you have any recommendations, drop them below!

This blue whale was a really fun one to do! One interesting fact about them is that they are the largest animal to have ever lived on earth, with an average size of 100 feet long and 200 tons.

I used Mont Marte Prussian Blue & Permanent Blue. I also add some flecks of dark blue to enhance the colors of the whale a bit.

I love Killer Whales! (or Orca’s, as I usually call them ) They are such a unique whale.

An interesting fact about them is that they can’t smell! (and also apparently are not whales, haha)

I used Mont Marte Lamp Black and Chinese White. I also added flecks of a darker blue to this one.

Sperm Whales have never really been a favorite of mine but they are very unique and have an interesting shape! This actually turned out to be a fun one to paint.

An interesting fact about these whales are that they have the largest known brain of any animal to exist, thus the reason for their bigger head.

I used Mont Marte Cobalt Blue and Prussian Blue. Also added some lighter flecks of pale blue.

I couldn’t decide what this whale was for so long but finally decided it was a grey whale i had painted blue, haha. These are an interesting whale and another one i enjoyed painting.

An interesting fact about them is that they have no teeth and are also endangered.

I used Mont Marte Cobalt Blue and Prussian Blue for this one and added some flecks of a light grey.

These whales were so fun to paint over the past few days and I loved blogging about them! So now a question for YOU

Do you like reading these painting type posts?? And what is your favorite type of whale?
